This April, as we recognize Oral Cancer Awareness Month at the Dental Centers, we're taking a stand to raise awareness about the critical importance of early detection in the fight against oral cancer. Did you know that oral cancer can develop on any tissue in your mouth, including the gums, tongue, and lips? It's a serious threat, with approximately 54,000 new cases expected this year alone. Alarmingly, 43 percent of those diagnosed may not survive beyond five years, and many who do face long-lasting challenges like facial disfigurement or difficulties with eating and speaking.
